60-0338 was written off after a ground fire destroyed the aft end of the aircraft on Friday, February 8, 1980.  According to an article published the folloiwng day in the Plattsburgh Press-Republican, the plane was being refueled on the ground at Plattsburg Air Force Base when a fire broke out around 3:29 a.m. ET.   The only casualty was AB Douglas Ballou, who suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns.  Fortunately, there were no other casualties.  The fire gutted much of the interior, but left the exterior intact.
